Panaji: With the increase in registration and application fees for casinos, the state treasury is likely to get additional revenue of 15 crore.
As per the revised security deposit, a casino operator has to pay 20 lakh as security deposit at the time of getting a new licence and 10 lakh at the time of renewal. This applies to both, onshore casinos and offshore casinos.
In view of revised application fees for onshore and offshore casinos, for onshore casinos, a casino operator has to pay 20 lakh irrespective of the number of machines and 20 lakh for machines/tables irrespective of their number, size or capacity of the vessel.

The annual recurring fee for an onshore casino with an area upto 100 square meters would have to pay 2.50 crore as fees. For an area above 100 and upto 300 square meters, casino operators have to pay 3 crore. For areas above 300 and upto 500 square meters, casino operators have to pay 3.5 crore. The recurring fee for an area above 500 square metres is 4.5 crore.
In terms of offshore casinos, the recurring fee will be 7 crore for passenger capacity of vessel upto 100 passengers; between 100 and 200 passengers, the recurring fee is 7.5 crore; between 200 and 400 passengers, the recurring fee has been kept at 8 crore, while casino vessels having a capacity above 400 passengers, the recurring fee is 9 crore.
There are around five offshore casino licences issued by the state government, of which, four are operating in the state. Around 10 onshore casinos also operate in the state. As per the state government figures, most of the visitors flock to onshore casinos in the state.
