Status report on Sriram Sena ban awaited

PANAJI: North Goa collector Nila Mohanan has sought a status report from North Goa superintendent of police Priyanka Kashyap on the ban on Shriram Sena, after the organization challenged the ban order.
Speaking to TOI, Mohanan said that based on a police report, she issued the ban against Shriram Sena under Section 144 of CrPC on August 20. She added that she is awaiting the report to begin the hearing.
Last week, Shriram Sena filed a petition before the North Goa collector challenging the order of ban against the organization in the state. Shri Ram Sena had filed a petition under Sections 144 (5) and (6) of CrPC. The appeal was filed by Gandadhar Kulkarni, a member of the organization.
Terming the ban on every member of the sena and any person connected or associated with it as ‘unconstitutional’, Kulkarni stated that the organization decided to challenge the unconstitutional ban under Section 144 of CrPC.
