Bulk generators in IMT Manesar told to process wet waste on-site
Gurgaon: Bulk waste generators, including industries and institutions in IMT Manesar generating more than 100 kilograms of waste per day, will be required to process and dispose of their wet waste independently at their own premises, MCM commissioner Pradeep Singh said on Thursday. The directive was issued during a coordination meeting chaired by Singh and attended by officials of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, MCM and office-bearers of the Manesar Industrial Welfare Association.
Singh said MCM will separately identify designated locations for the collection and disposal of dry waste generated by such establishments and stressed that registration of all eligible institutions on the Central Pollution Control Board’s portal is mandatory and directed officials to ensure compliance.
With the monsoon approaching, the commissioner instructed HSIIDC officials to complete the cleaning of drains and small nallahs across the IMT area to prevent waterlogging and flooding. He also directed authorities to expedite road repairs, maintenance of streetlights and the development of central verges, roundabouts and green belts along major roads in industrial sectors.
Expressing concern over waste accumulation at several locations, Singh ordered officials to identify and remove all illegal garbage dumping sites in the IMT area.
To address traffic congestion and encroachments on major roads, the commissioner proposed the creation of temporary vending zones in vacant spaces across different sectors. The move, he said, would provide designated spaces for street vendors while helping keep roads and intersections free of traffic bottlenecks.
As part of monsoon preparedness measures, officials were also directed to identify areas prone to waterlogging and construct rainwater harvesting pits at such locations to improve drainage and groundwater recharge.
The commissioner further asked officials to identify suitable locations for community and public toilets in IMT sectors and submit the details to the municipal corporation for further action.
