GURGAON: The couple, who duped a Faridabad resident of Rs 45 lakh on the pretext of getting him a job in the US, had last year sought the district administration's permission to adopt a baby girl who was found in a garbage dump in the city. The economic offences wing of the Gurgaon police is on the lookout for the couple. Sandeep Chaudhary and his wife Manisha Chaudhary had approached the district administration asking the officials to allow them to take care of the baby girl who was battling for her life at the Civil Hospital last April.
They, however, did not get the permission.
The couple remains at large after an FIR was lodged by the victim, V Rathee, in the cheating case. Punjab and Haryana high court has rejected their anticipatory bail application and teams of the economic offences wing of the Gurgaon police are searching for them in Gurgaon and Delhi. After TOI report on the cheating case appeared, the victim contacted this newspaper and narrated what exactly had happened.
"The couple used to tell how they had helped many to get jobs in the US. They lived with three adopted kids and came along as a very nice couple," said Rathee.
