Infra upgrade tops new GMDA chief’s priority list for Gurgaon

Newly appointed GMDA CEO A Sreenivas, who previously served as the chief of Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority, will focus on infrastructure development and planning in Gurgaon. He will prioritize major development plans, including water supply, drainage and sewerage network, road infrastructure, and city mobility. GURGAON: Laying emphasis on infrastructure development and planning while keeping pace with rise in population and demand for civic amenities will be the focus for newly appointed GMDA CEO A Sreenivas, who assumed charge on Wednesday.
While this is the 2004-batch IAS officer’s first stint in the city, his experience serving as the chief of Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority should come in handy while implementing major development plans in the city.

After assuming office, Sreenivas took stock of the ongoing projects being undertaken by the Authority. He chaired the meeting with the senior officials of GMDA and reviewed various projects related to augmenting water supply, developing drainage and sewerage network, enhancing road infrastructure and improving the city’s mobility factor.
Noting that the city’s development and upliftment are key focus areas for the GMDA, Sreenivas said, “Major works are being helmed by the Authority to accelerate infrastructure development in the city. Critical projects will be given top priority to provide the benefits of all necessary civic amenities to the public at large.”
He further said that there will be a deep emphasis towards time-bound execution of works and resolving any hindrances or bottlenecks that need to be addressed with respective government departments.
At the meeting, GMDA officials apprised the new CEO on the current projects that have been taken up as per the expected population projection in the year 2031. All infrastructure development projects are being taken up in a phased manner to cater to the futuristic demand of the citizens over the next decade, officials said.
During the meeting, Sreenivas directed officials to closely monitor the on-going projects’ progress and ensure strong adherence to high standards of quality in order to provide quality infrastructure and amenities for public use.
