GURGAON: The district administration and police have made extensive security arrangements for the safety of pilgrims during the kanwar yatra. A dedicated lane will be set up for the devotees on the service lane of the expressway so that commuters are not disturbed. This, they said, will also ensure the safety of the kanwars during their journey.Police force will be deployed along the routes. In addition to local police, an adequate number of traffic cops will also be deployed. A dedicated lane will be marked on Delhi-Jaipur expressway, KMP expressway and Sohna Road. Besides the expressways, police will be deployed at strategic points like Sohna, Farrukhnagar and Pataudi road through which a large number of pilgrims are expected to pass.Around 4 lakh pilgrims, carrying water from Ganga river, are expected to pass through Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and other routes in the city on their way from Haridwar to local shrines in their native places in Haryana and Rajasthan.According to officials, different organisations have been directed to set up the shivir at a distance of at least 100 feet from the main road and 50 feet from the internal road. They have also been directed to keep the volume of loudspeakers low, for which permission from district administration will have to be taken.
Ambulances, cranes and fire tenders will be stationed at critical spots for quick response in case of emergency.Deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav on Wednesday held a meeting with traffic police and other departments for traffic management, road safety and other arrangements during the kanwar yatra. “A dedicated lane will be made on Delhi-Gurgaon expressway from Sirhaul to Kherki Daula and on Sohna road from Rajiv Chowk,” said Yadav.
