Silchar: Assam Rifles recovered three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a search operation in
Manipur’s Jiribam district amid heightened tensions in the state, officials said on Wednesday.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs, leading to the recovery of three IEDs weighing a total of 4.5kg.
Officials said timely detection of the explosives averted possible large-scale damage to life and property.
Assam Rifles said surveillance and vigil had been intensified across sensitive areas in view of the prevailing situation in the state.
The force also stated that it was working closely with local authorities to maintain peace and stability in Jiribam district. Officials warned that those involved in unlawful activities had already been identified and would face strict action.
Local residents reportedly appreciated the role of the security forces in maintaining peace and preventing any untoward incident in the region.
