DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh girl Aradhana Buragohain, second runner-up of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2016, got a rousing reception at her alma mater Little Flower School on Friday morning.
Staff and students broke out into spontaneous applause and cheers as the beauty queen entered the school gates. Dressed in a vivid red mekhela chador, Aradhana was a vision.
Excited students and teachers lined up to greet the leggy lass as she wowed all with her glittering crown and sash.
"It was at this school that I first walked the ramp. I used to wear T-shirts, jeans and chappals. I was a tomboy. From there to becoming the second runner-up of Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2016, it has been a long journey," she told a jam-packed auditorium.
On her arrival, she was given a warm welcome by Sister Superior Alphonsha and principal Tessy Davis. As Aradhana sought their blessing, they congratulated her for bringing glory to the school and the state.
Aradhana first entered Little Flower School twenty years ago as a four-year-old. She passed Class X from the school in 2008. Remembering her schooldays, an emotional Aradhana said it was the best time of her life.
"Today, whatever I have achieved, is because of my school and my teachers. I thank my teachers for inculcating important values in me. They gave me the courage to dream big and have faith in myself," an emotional Aradhana said.
The 24-year-old was at her lively best as she patiently answered eager questions put forward by her young fans.
"I would like to see someone from among you win the Miss Universe or
Miss World crowns. Nothing is impossible," she said.
Ever obliging, she happily posed for photographs with the students and teachers.
Earlier, Aradhana, accompanied by her parents, met CM Sarbananda Sonowal at his Dibrugarh residence. Sonowal congratulated her for bringing glory to the state. She also met Dibrugarh DC Laya Madduri.
In the evening, she spent some time with kids at Prerona Children Home, an orphange here.
