Body of 50-yr-old woman fished out of river in Kokrajhar
Dhubri: The body of a woman was found floating in the Burachera river on Friday evening at Kashiyabari village under Gossaigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar district.
Police from Sapkata outpost, in the presence of a magistrate, fished out the body from the river and sent it to Kokrajhar for an autopsy.
Police sources said the deceased woman was around 50-years-old. She has been identified as Maiku Kisku, the wife of Mangal Soren, a resident of Kashiyabari.
Police suspected that Maiku went to the river to wash clothes, as a bundle of clothes was found on the bank of the river, and might have eventually slipped into the river and drowned.
However, the exact cause of her death can only be ascertained when the autopsy report is ready, the source added.
The body was handed over to the family members on Saturday after the autopsy was conducted.
