Eid sales down 50% in Dhubri
Dhubri: Sky-rocketing prices of commodities, including garments and essentials, has resulted in a nearly 50% decline in Eid-Ul-Zuha sales at Dhubri markets compared to previous years.
A garments store owner in Dhubri town, Mangilal Surana, expressed concern over reduction in pre-festival sales. “I have a huge stock. So far, only 30% stock has been cleared,” he added.
A grocery shop owner, Rajkumar Ghose, said they have no control over prices. However, the rise has affected the sale of essentials.
Reacting to high price of goats, Syed Noor Ahmed, a resident of Falumari village, said, “ We have to give up Qurbani this year. Even a small goat costs Rs 6000.”
