Eldery woman’s body found in backyard of house

The body of a 75-year-old woman was found in the backyard of her residence in Guwahati's Panjabari area on Tuesday morning. The deceased, Saira Sultana, is a retired teacher. Mrinal Deka, DCP Guwahati (East) division, on Tuesday told the media that during the investigation, blood stains were found in the washroom. Additionally, police also found a pile of stones stacked together in the backyard underneath which the deceased was buried. After checking the CCTV footage, police found a man exiting Sultana's residence during the afternoon hours. "We have detained Kari Muhammad Abdul Aziz Lashkar, who hails from Hailakandi district, from the Palashbari area in Kamrup district. We have taken him to Dispur PS for questioning," the DCP added.
