Imphal: The Jiribam Municipal Council has issued an order prohibiting cattle owners from allowing their livestock to roam freely on roads and other areas within the council’s jurisdiction, in view of the havoc and disturbances caused by stray cattle to the public, as well as the risks posed to road safety and hinder vehicular movement.The order further warned the cattle owner that necessary legal action will be initiated under Section 179 of the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994, and violators will face action under the Cattle Trespass Act, 1871.Further, the JMC has urged cattle owners to take responsibility for their animals and prevent them from straying into public areas. The council is committed to maintaining public safety and order in the region.The move aims to prevent disturbances to vehicular movement and commuters, as well as potential road accidents.
