During detailed discussions, among other matters, the public expressed resentment over the poor infrastructure and lack of basic necessities such as roads, housing, electricity, telecommunication network etc. The deplorable road conditions from Namtola to Mon, Mon town, Mon to Tuensang via Tobu, and Tuensang to Mokokchung is a clear marker of underdevelopment, the party press statement said.
It said electricity is another matter of serious concern in these areas, adding that extremely low voltage power supply is available for short time periods interspersed by long spells of darkness.
The team also made note of the poor telecommunication in these areas, stating that network connectivity is intermittent and unreliable. Visitors to the area have to use private networks to communicate outside the region.

The team, which visited various parts of Mon district, observed that despite the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) programme, many thatched houses were visible. It raised the question whether the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Mon, under the Department of Rural Development, is fully and effectively implementing the said scheme.
The BJP urged the Nagaland government to make positive changes saying that prolonging the negligence would lead to complicated crises.
