Shah to visit Tripura on Feb 20 amid strain in BJP and TIPRA Motha
Agartala: Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Tripura on Feb 20, in anticipation of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections in April.Shah’s visit is considered crucial as the ruling BJP and TIPRA Motha are in disagreement over power dominance in the ADC area. Both parties have indicated their intention to contest the election separately, posing a significant challenge for BJP in tribal areas.

BJP sources have revealed that Shah will attend a meeting with BJP leaders to deliberate on the potential alliance with TIPRA Motha in the ADC polls, in addition to engaging in official programs. Leaders of TIPRA Motha have also expressed their interest in meeting him to discuss the progress of the Tiprasa accord signed before the last Lok Sabha elections.The detailed itinerary of Shah’s visit has not yet been finalised, but it is anticipated that he will participate in a government program focusing on the development initiatives undertaken by the Centre in the state.In a separate event, Union minister for rural development, agriculture, and farmers’ welfare Shivraj Singh Chauhan is going to inaugurate the public representatives’ conference and various rural development projects here on Wednesday at Swami Vivekananda Stadium.
