Silchar: Tea community organisations in the Barak Valley have alleged irregularities and prolonged delays in caste verification, claiming several selected candidates are unable to secure govt appointments due to complications over recognition of their caste and surname status.
The Barak Cha Sramik Union, along with allied organisations, submitted a memorandum to the CM and the governor through the Cachar district commissioner on Monday, seeking intervention to resolve the issue.
The organisations said confusion over caste and surname verification has delayed issuance of valid certificates, affecting recruitment to government jobs.
