First Dialogue Since Clashes: Manipur CM Meets Kuki-Zo Council To Ease Tensions

Nearly three years after violence erupted in Manipur, the state government has initiated a key step towards reconciliation, with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand holding an “ice-breaking” meeting with the Kuki-Zo Council in Guwahati. The meeting marks the first direct engagement between the two sides since the 2023 ethnic clashes. While no formal agreements were reached, the interaction is being seen as a significant beginning aimed at reopening communication channels. Both sides highlighted the need to gradually rebuild trust and continue dialogue to address long-standing tensions and move towards peace in the region.
