Agartala: Tripura toursim minister Sushanta Chowdhury Tuesday said the state govt plans to allocate Rs 130 crore towards enhancing infrastructure and visitor facilities at Chabimura in Gomati and Unokoti, known for their Hindu rock carvings and stone sculptures.
The minister detailed that Rs 62 crore would be utilised for Chabimura's development, while Rs 70 crore has been earmarked for Unokoti, encompassing accommodation facilities and logistical improvements. Additionally, comprehensive renovation plans are underway for popular tourist destinations including Neer Mahal and Jampui Hills.
"We shall organise five day long events in each of the tourist destinations to promote tourism and cultural heritage of the state. Much in the lines of Hornbill Festival observed in Nagaland, we are planning to organise an annual tourism festival to woo tourists," he announced during the second event of the ongoing Tourism Promo festival.
The minister emphasised that tourism development remains a key priority for the govt's economic growth strategy.
