BLDE backs two govt quota MBBS students with financial aid
Pic: BLDE Institution's president and minister MB Patil distributed cheques to students, pursuing MBBS in govt medical colleges, Udaykumar Narayanakar and Manohar Harage in Vijayapura on SundayVijayapura: BLDE Institution has extended financial support to two economically disadvantaged but meritorious students who secured MBBS seats under the govt quota after clearing NEET.Industries, infrastructure development minister and BLDE Institution president MB Patil distributed cheques to Udaykumar Narayanakar of Alamel and Manohar Harage of Ratnapur to cover their tuition, hostel and mess expenses for the MBBS course. Patil urged the students to pursue their studies with dedication and said the assistance was aimed at helping them realise their aspirations while bringing pride to their families and Vijayapura district.Narayanakar, who secured a seat at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, said his parents, Sanjeevkumar and Mahadevi, are agricultural labourers. "BLDE's support of Rs 1.8 lakh will help me pay my fees and move closer to my dream of becoming a paediatrician," he said.Harage, who got admission at BMRCI Medical College in Bengaluru, said his parents, Basappa and Yamanavva, are small farmers owning two acres of land. "My brother is pursuing a BA and my sister is in first-year PUC. The Rs 1.2 lakh assistance will help me pursue my goal of becoming a cardiologist. I hope to serve the poor once I become a doctor," he said.BLDE Deemed University registrar RV Kulkarni, accounts superintendent SS Patil and the students' parents were present.
