Koppal: High court judges underscored the need for faster, transparent and technology-driven justice delivery while inaugurating a new court complex at Yelburga Saturday.
Justice CM Poonacha, administrative judge for Koppal district, highlighted the transformative role of technology in the judiciary. He said tools such as e-courts, e-filing, video conferencing, digital evidence systems and online case tracking can significantly speed up proceedings while making them more accessible and cost-effective.
Justice Hanchate Sanjeevkumar said timely and genuine justice depends not only on systems but also on a change in mindset among legal professionals. He said delays must be avoided and called for a more responsive and efficient approach from lawyers and judicial officers.
Both judges emphasised that modernisation of courts and expansion of infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, are critical. The new Yelburga court complex, equipped with spacious court halls, digital record systems, and public amenities, is expected to improve local access to justice.
Justice Sanjeevkumar also called for increasing judicial strength in line with population growth and planning court infrastructure with a long-term vision. Young lawyers were encouraged to adopt technology, strengthen legal research skills and adapt to evolving digital platforms.
The event was organised by the district judiciary, public works department and bar association, Yelburga.
