Kalaburagi commuters seek shade at traffic signals

Kalaburagi: As summer temperature continues to rise in Kalaburagi, residents are grappling with intensifying heat stress. Two-wheeler riders, in particular, are bearing the brunt, struggling to endure long waits at traffic signals under the scorching sun.Against this backdrop, green screen shading system should be provided at important traffic signals of the city, residents urged the Kalaburagi City Corporation.The temperature goes up to 35 to 38 degrees Celsius. As it is likely to increase further in the coming days, it has been informed that commuters stopping at the signal is finding it difficult to bear the scorching sun.Signals at SVP Circle, Jagath Circle, Rashtrapathi Circle, Lalgeri Circle, Anand Hotel, Ram Mandri Circle, Shahabad Ring Road Circle, Aland Checkpost Circle, Humanabad Ring Road Circle and Sedam Ring Road Circle are the major hubs in the city where vehicular traffic is high. Here, hundreds of vehicles stand in line during the signal. In this case, the riders have to wait in the hot sun.Therefore, Janapara Horata Samithi activist Sachin Patil opined that installing a green shade screen in these places will be of great benefit to people.In some districts of the state, shade is provided at traffic signals using green screen. It has been requested that if the Kalaburagi City Corporation follows suit, it will be of great benefit to the people of the city.
