DHARWAD: A Youth Congress leader was allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants who barged into his residence in the city, police said on Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Fairoz Pathan.
The incident occurred late Friday night at his home in the Hashminagar area, triggering panic among local residents.
According to police, four unidentified men forced their way into the house and attacked Pathan with lethal weapons before fleeing the spot.
The entire incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, which are expected to provide crucial leads in the investigation, a senior police officer said.
On receiving information, personnel from the Sub-Urban Police Station rushed to the scene and carried out an inspection. The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
