BELAGAVI: The Christian community will hold special prayers on Sunday to mark the canonization of Mother Teresa at Vatican City in Rome.
To mark the occasion, the Christians of Belagavi have organised a religious function, Holy Eucharist, at Fatima Cathedral at 5.30pm. Belagavi bishop Rev Peter Machado along with priests, sisters and devotees will take part in the programme.
Bishop Machado said that it is an honour and privilege for all the poor in the world, whom Mother Teresa represented. "She showed us the beauty of life, lived in and for love and never stopped reminding us that we are all created for great things, to love and to be loved," bishop Machado said.
Pope Francis will accord her the status of sainthood at a ceremony on Sunday.
