HUBLI: Tension prevailed for some time on the premises of Regional Transport Office here on Monday as RTO agents stormed into the office of RTO J Purushotham, accusing him of manhandling an agent, and demanded his apology.
The agents, supported by the members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Samata Sene, said Purushotham manhandled an agent, Prakash, on Friday.
But the RTO maintained that he has done nothing wrong and did not heed the demand for an apology.
Purushotham said the agents are making baseless allegations as he has restricted their entry into the RTO office. The RTO said he has even found office files in their hands.
The agitators finally withdrew their
protest, claiming that the RTO has apologized. Maintaining that he had not apologized, Purushottam said he has asked the police to provide protection to keep the agents out of office.
