Truck laden with cylinders overturns
Belagavi: A truck carrying hydrogen cylinders overturned on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway (NH4) near Nippani on Friday morning.
Truck driver Tirthsingh Dalbirsingh, 41, was killed when the vehicle hit a divider and overturned.
Following the accident, one side of the highway was blocked for five hours as the cylinders had scattered all around.

Police sources said the truck was heading towards Gujarat from Kanagala gas refilling plant via Nippani. All the cylinders in the truck were empty.

A tussle between Customs officials and Bidhannagar Police occurred when a freighter exiting Kolkata airport with allegedly smuggled goods was intercepted. The driver tried to flee, leaving the vehicle in the middle of a busy road. The Customs officials had conducted the raid based on information about gold smuggling. The police had already seized the goods and nabbed the driver before the raid took place.
