Hyderabad: An Indian national who arrived from Bangkok was arrested after 10kg of hydroponic marijuana worth an estimated ₹3.5 crore was seized from his luggage at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday.
During the intelligence-based interception, officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Hyderabad Customs recovered nine black-coloured packets concealed inside clothes from his check-in baggage. The packets contained a greenish, lumpy substance with a strong pungent odour, officials said.
The substance was subjected to a narcotic drug detection test and was found positive for marijuana.
The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
