2 held for raping 19-year-old; lured her with film offer

Hyderabad: Two men allegedly raped a 19-year-old woman in a room in Secunderabad after she was promised an acting role in movies.The survivor and her friend live on the footpath and have worked extras in some films. On the evening of May 14, the two accused approached the duo and asked the woman to accompany them for an opportunity in a film. Police said the woman went with them to their room in Secunderabad."The accused sexually exploited the survivor for two days and, on May 16, sent her back on a bike taxi," said a Jubilee Hills police official. The woman's friend, who noticed injuries on her body, took her to Gandhi Hospital for medical treatment on May 17. During treatment, doctors enquired about the injuries, following which the woman disclosed the sexual assault.Subsequently, based on her complaint, police registered a rape case on May 18. The victim was also sent for medical examination. Based on her statement, Jubilee Hills police launched a manhunt to trace the duo. The accused were reportedly arrested on Tuesday night and are being interrogated.
