GUNTUR: In a major shuffle of sub-inspectors (SIs) in the Guntur district, superintendent of police (SP) P S R Anjaneyulu has effected as many as 31 transfers on Friday.
The SP summoned all the 31 SIs to his bungalow in the early hours of Friday and handed them the transfer orders.
All of them were asked to report to the duty immediately.
This is the first phase of SIs transfers effected after P S R Anjaneyulu took charge as SP in April this year.
The issue of transfers was kept as a closely guarded secret till the orders were actually handed over to the concerned officers to avoid political pressures.
It may be mentioned here that the SP of Kurnool had also recently transferred a large number of officers in a similar fashion.
Most of the SIs who were working in naxalite and faction ridden Palnadu area got better postings and the SIs working in the peaceful delta area were shifted to stations in Palnadu area.
Machavaram SI Y Srinivasa Rao who chased the naxalites when they opened fire on him recently got the prized posting of Chilakaluripet town while A Srinivasa Rao of Narasaraopet rural was shifted to Machavaram.
P Balaji of Chilakaluripet was transferred to Piduguralla and Sk Hussain was shifted to Amarthalur. K Nageswara Rao was transferred from Kothapet to Vemur and S Raghava Rao has been posted at Kothapet from Pattabhipuram in Guntur city.
Arundelpet SI Rajkumar has been moved to Pattabhipuram and Ipur SI T Muralikrishna got posting in Arundelpet station.
As many as six SIs, V Venakateswara Rao (Ipur), Sk Saida (Veldurthy), M Ravindra (Prattipadu), P Isac (police control room), S Mahaboob (Karlapalem), M Sundara Rao (old Guntur) were moved to law and order postings from vacancy reserve (VR). N Rama Rao of Tadikonda was shifted to Bellamkonda and B Srinivasa Rao moved to Ponnur.
