4 die of diarrhoea

PONNUR: Stung by reports that at least four persons had died of diarrhoea in a span of just one week in the municipal town of Ponnur in Guntur district, district collector B Ramanjaneyulu undertook a surprise visit to the slums of the town on Tuesday.
Taking a serious note of poor sanitation, the collector warned the municipal and medical and health officials to improve the situation within two days.He visited the family of Chantammai, who died of gastroenteritis two days ago, and promised them of help from the government.
He asked the municipal commissioner to coordinate with private hospitals to treat the cases of viral fever, gastroenteritis and diarrhoea.
