HYDERABAD: While drawing the poll blueprint for Telangana from the Delhi war-room, Union home minister Amit Shah told the state party unit to zero in on 75 assembly seats, forcing the local unit to burn the midnight oil to hammer out the first candidate list of 60.
Few days ago, a list of former MLAs, MPs and sitting legislators was doing the rounds, which the party initially played down, but sources said the list was being fine-tuned along with another fresh list of 30.
1x1 polls
The second list is likely to comprise leaders who lost elections narrowly. "There at least 10 prominent leaders, who wield considerable influence in their assembly segments and three others are front-runners. The second list will be ready soon," a senior leader said.
Also, the party is trying to effect internal changes to actively involve everyone in the poll juggernaut.
Though BJP state chief Kishan Reddy is not ready to make dramatic changes in his team, efforts are on to involve those who joined from other parties during Sanjay Bandi's tenure.
About 1,000 district and village-rung leaders have been identified and they will soon be tasked with grassroots duty.
Highly placed sources said, the exercise of collecting data from various districts had kicked off this week. "Active leaders and those with talent and potential will be roped in for election duties," they said. Many leaders had complained to the leadership on lack of clarity and transparency in distributing work, despite their abilities and inclination to hit the ground running.
