BHUPALAPALLY: Two rival groups of BRS raised slogans against each other in front of MLC Kalvakuntla
Kavitha in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday.
The rivals groups - followers of MLC Sirikonda Madusudhana Chary and MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy - indulged in a slanging match at the inauguration of Kakatiya Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangam office building at Bhupalpally.
Madusudhana Chary loyalists noticed that their leader's name was missing from the plaque and found fault with the Bhupalpally MLA. However, police intervened and sent them away from the premises.
Speaking to the media after inaugurating Kakatiya Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangam office in Bhupalpally along with tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod, Kavitha dubbed the Union government an anti-poor and pro-corporate party. While talking about the efforts KCR had taken to protect and empower Singareni workers, she attacked the NDA government for its bid to privatise Singareni coal mines.
She urged Singareni workers to unite and raise their voice against the forces that were trying to attack their livelihoods. Later, Kavitha offered prayers at
UNESCO world heritage site Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple at Palampet in Mulugu district.
Speaking to the media, Kavitha said Ramappa got UNESCO world heritage site recognition due to the efforts of the Telangana government. Stating that the temple is an ASI-protected monument and a UNESCO site, the state government would develop the surroundings as the original structure cannot be touched.
She demanded the central government accord national status to Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, one of the biggest tribal congregations in Asia.
The BRS leader also slammed the BJP government at the Centre for not setting up a tribal university in Mulugu though the state government had allotted land for the purpose.
