Celebrities, social media influencers call for collective action against harassment, join Telangana police’s #StandWithHer campaign
Hyderabad: Several celebrities have joined hands to support the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing’s ongoing campaign, #StandWithHer.
Officials from the Women Safety Wing (WSW) said that film personalities and social media influencers have come forward to amplify the campaign’s message, which urges men not to remain bystanders when women face harassment in public spaces. TOI is the official media partner for the #StandWithHer campaign.
Tollywood actor Adivi Sesh emerged as one of the prominent voices backing the initiative. Comparing the internet to a vast ocean, he described online harassment, indecent comments, and unhealthy trolling as the “dirt” polluting it. “Every man should take responsibility for collectively wiping away harassment against women,” the actor said.
Several social media influencers, including Virajita, Deepak Karamungikar, Sharath Nalla, and Nisha Nalla, also participated in the campaign by creating videos highlighting the importance of consent and respect towards women.
“The initiative calls on men to actively speak out against harassment of women, both online and offline, and promote safer spaces for women at workplaces, homes, and public spaces,” said Charu Sinha, director general (WSW).
