HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress senior vice-president Mallu Ravi on Sunday sought to ask the BJP government as to who will benefit from the withdrawal of 2,000 currency notes.
“The government’s decision is like the one Muhammad Bin Tughlaq had taken, to shift his capital from Delhi only to withdraw it later. This decision led to the suffering and death of hundreds of people,” he said.

Telangana Congress working president Mahesh Kumar Goud demanded that the BJP government at the Centre inform the public about the benefits to common man from demonetisation-1 and what the poor were going through with demonetisation-II, which is the withdrawal of 2000 denomination notes.
Several people lost their jobs and many of them died due to the impact of demonetisation in 2016. “The government then had withdrawn the 1,000 and 500 currency denomination, and introduced denomination of 2,000 currency note, in addition to new 500 series. Now, again 2,000 currency notes are being withdrawn,” he said.
