Govt doctors oppose changes to transfer norms, seek fair posting
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) and Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) on Thursday expressed concern over delays in the ongoing transfer process in the medical and health department and urged the govt to implement GO No 38 without deviations.
Addressing the media at the directorate of medical education (DME) office in Koti, the associations opposed any move to alter the definitions of ‘focal’ and ‘non-focal’ areas, warning that such changes could trigger dissatisfaction and discrimination among doctors.
The doctors said many have been awaiting transfers for years and further delays are creating uncertainty. “Request transfers should have a minimum two-year eligibility period, and doctors working in rural areas should not be shifted compulsorily unless they seek transfer voluntarily. We also want offline counselling to ensure transparency and fairness,” a TGGDA leader said.
TTGDA leaders said several Hyderabad-based doctors were shifted to peripheral areas during the 2024 transfer cycle and those serving long in remote regions now deserve postings in Hyderabad or nearby places. The associations urged the govt to complete transfers before May 31.
