Hyderabad: The high court has refused to grant interim relief to the makers of
Ganesh idols which are made with plaster of paris. The high court had last year banned the use of POP in making of these idols.
A bench of chief justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili was hearing a plea filed by Telangana Ganesh Murthy Kalakar Welfare Association, Dhoolpet, and eight others questioning the ban.
The bench while issuing notices to the authorities asked them to file their replies within six weeks.
It, however, refused to stay the ban order. The ban was imposed by the
Supreme Court also. The Central Pollution Control Board too has banned the use of POP, it said. tnn
