HYDERABAD: Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy, on Sunday, questioned why chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao failed to pay tributes to BR Ambedkar and other social reformers on their birth and death anniversaries, alleging that he hurt the sentiments of all sections of society.
Addressing media at the BJP state office in Nampally, he stated, “Finally, KCR has come to the secretariat to inaugurate the statue of Ambedkar, but this is all a hogwash; he has no respect for social reformers like Ambedkar, Phule or Jagjivan Ram; he has no respect for the Constitution, but only wants his own constitution to be implemented; previous chief ministers have always had respect for such reformers.”
He further said that KCR had never attended the Bhadrachalam temple in the previous eight years, but always attended Iftar dinners.
"All he cares about is posturing," Kishan pointed out.
The Union minister also questioned why the BRS government did not reopen the Nizam sugar factory within the promised 100 days. “BRS government is acting as if it is going to do everything for
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, you don't have funds to revive small scale units in
Telangana, and people are questioning you about Bayyaram steel plant here,” he said.
In response to a question regarding the murder of former MP Atique Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh, he said, “The UP government quickly appointed an investigation committee; we will have to wait for details.”
The Union minister thanked Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia for approving the Sabarimala (Kerala) Greenfield Airport site clearance.
According to the minister, nearly one million devotees visit Sabarimala each year, with the majority of them arriving between November and January, known as the ‘Mandala’ season.
Every year, nearly one crore devotees visit Sabarimala, with the Telugu states accounting for about 15 lakh of them. “The Union Government has taken several steps to make spiritual yatras more convenient for devotees and the general public,” he said.
