HYDERABAD: Maintaining the tradition that began last year, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) put up a welcome stage near Charminar to greet Ganesha idols from the Old City on Tuesday.
Two Old City corporators of MIM, Sunnam Raj Mohan (Puranapul) and Mohammed Ghouse (Charminar), made the arrangements and were present at the camp till the last idol from the Old City passed the Charminar.

“We were told by party chief Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi to set up the camp and made all arrangements to welcome the procession,’’ Raj Mohan told The Times of India.
Raj Mohan said local Muslims too encouraged them to continue the activities which would help in bridging the gap between the two religions. “We do not need to do much to promote brotherhood,’’ he said, adding that a single constructive move was enough to win the hearts.
Mohammed Ghouse said, “It really gives me nice feeling when a Hindu brother shouts my name loudly from the procession and waves a hand at me. We have hardly spent much but our efforts are sincere. Whenever we do something, we have been encouraged by the people of both communities and this shows that everyone wants good atmosphere in Old City.’’
Flowers were showered on the procession from the camp and prasadam of lemon rice, tamarind rice and boiled chana were distributed. Water too was supplied.
