Missing man’s body in lake: 3 persons charged with murder in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Six days after a man’s body was found in the buff near Dabilpur lake, Petbasheerabad police on Friday arrested three persons, charging them with killing the man.
Police said J Venkatesh (29) was beaten to death by the assailants and later set his clothes on fire. The trio even used sticks to land blows on Venkatesh’s private parts. After checking the CCTV footage, police traced the accused — Shiva Kumar, Narsinga Rao and Rajpal.
When they were questioned, they confessed to killing Venkatesh as they were upset over the latter commenting on Shiva’s wife. On November 20 which was Venkatesh’s birthday, he hosted a party to his friends at a local toddy shop.
Venkatesh raked up an old dispute with Shiva and when he used abusive language against Shiva’s wife, Shiva who was annoyed, in a fit of rage beat Venkatesh.
Meanwhile, the other two accused also joined Shiva in thrashing Venkatesh, which led to his instantaneous death. The trio then later removed his shirt and trousers and dumped his body in the lake before taking away his cellphone.
