hyderabad: chief minister n chandrababu naidu has asked the chennai based central leather research institute (clri) to prepare a time-bound action plan to launch state-level leather technology mission. the chief minister made this request to clri director t ramasami who called on him at secretariat here on monday. naidu told ramasami that the government had identified leather technology as one of the growth engines in achieving the goals envisaged in the vision 2020 document of the state.
explaining naidu about the untapped opportunities in the leather industry in the country as well as andhra pradesh, ramasami said that there were more than 3.5 crore animals in the state which would be helpful for leather sector. ramasami said the benefits of introducing leather technology courses in the itis and polytechnic colleges in the state would provide employment to more than seven lakh people. employment generation minister b gopalakrishna reddy, major industries principal secretary jainder singh,apiic managing director mvs prasad, lidcap managing director t krishna prasad were present.
