HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad high court on Thursday posted to Friday a plea filed by YSRCP general secretary K Siva Kumar seeking action against TDP MLA and actor N Balakrishna for allegedly distributing money to voters in the recent Nandyal bypoll. The bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi sought to know from the petitioner as to how he was aggrieved.
We can understand if the contested candidate approached us with such a plea.
The counsel for the petitioner said that he has locus standi to file the plea as a party functionary. Our pleas to the election authorities to take action against the actor yielded no results and hence we approached the court, he said. Upon a query, the counsel for the election commission said that the petitioner can file a police case against the actor too instead of asking the EC to act.
