HYDERABAD: Home minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Friday inaugurated Sahas, a Telangana police initiative, to make workplaces free from harassment for women.
Director general of police Anjani Kumar said that there are over three lakh employers in the state and the Sahas team hoped to connect and sensitise them through awareness and training activities. “He asked the Sahas steering committee to ensure that a massive awareness-cum-training campaign is taken up among government departments and other stakeholders as well,” DGP office said.
Additional director general of police (Women safety wing) Shikha Goel said Sahas was a collaboration between industry bodies and the Telangana police.

Under the initiative, a working woman, who faces work place harassment, can approach Sahas. The team, with the involvement of NGOs, will contact concerned committees created be the employer to strive to initiate action.
Chairman of CII & IWN C Shekar Reddy said in his experience as an entrepreneur, he believed that every employer in Telangana was passionate about the safety of women workforce.
