HYDERABAD: It was a great respite for citizens from oppressive weather on Wednesday when parts of the city witnessed showers. Met officials said that the thundershowers were, however, restricted to northern and western parts of Hyderabad. Districts like Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Karimnagar also received isolated rainfall.
Cloudy conditions prevailed since late afternoon on Wednesday before the showers lashed parts of the city.

Met officials said that the showers were triggered by rising humidity levels. “Usually these showers occur in the evening,” said Sudhakar Rao, director, Met department.
Local Met office predicted more thundershowers in the next 48 hours, particularly in the late afternoon and early evening hours across north Telangana region. However, due to heavy gale and rain, many areas in the city suffered power outages. According to CPDCL chief general manager (Metro Zone) A G Satish Kumar, power supply was hit in Bowenpally, Banjara Hills, Yousufguda, Madhapur, Gachibolwi amd parts of Kukatpally, Tarnaka and Secunderabad.
Due to the heavy gale, the main feeder line connecting Shapur to Erragadda got affected. “We restored power supply from Gachibowli feeder line,” he added. As per reports at CPDCL SCADA, power supply was affected in 40% of the city. “We have put all efforts to restore power in the affected areas and hoping to complete it by midnight,” Satish Kumar told TOI.
