HYDERABAD: On the eve of week long celebrations of 123 birthday celebrations of late Nawab Salar Jung Bahadur, a museum souvenir shop was inaugurated at the famous Salar Jung Musuem. The shop is a joint venture between the Salar Jung Museum and Handicrafts and Handlooms Export Corporation (HHEC), New Delhi.
The aim behind starting the museum shop is to help development, creation and replication of museum quality objects of handicrafts and handlooms and to provide a market outlet for the craftsmen.
The shop will market items of contemporary urban relevance.
Museum officials said that the shop will be managed by the HHEC, a Government of India owned company, as it possess necessary experience in the field of marketing. The profits would be shared among both the organizations. The exclusive range of handicrafts, handlooms, carpets and garments from HHEC represent the true essence of India.
The shop will offer a wide range of products like wooden/iron furniture, products in metals including bronze, iron, brass, copper and silver, stone-marble and soap stone, granite, jewellery, blue pottery, glassware and shell items, textile based products, furnishings, yardage silk, cotton, woolen, jute, leather garments, carpets, rugs and durries.
