Telangana Municipal Elections 2026 Live Updates: Act against Gadwal MLA, BRS urges Telangana poll body

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has approached the Telangana State Election Commission (TGSEC) seeking action against Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, alleging that he campaigned during the 48-hour silence period and continued holding meetings and interacting with voters after the campaign deadline.

The party leaders accused the MLA of misusing his political position and influence to sway voters and of creating an atmosphere of pressure and inducement among the electorate.

BRS leaders Kuruva Vijay Kumar, Bommera Rammurthy and others met the State Election Commissioner (SEC) on Tuesday and demanded stringent penal action against the MLA for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. They sought prosecution, censure and any other statutory action deemed appropriate.

The delegation also urged the SEC to examine the possibility of disqualifying or debarring the MLA from election-related activities, alleging deliberate misuse of office and repeated defiance of Election Commission directives.

Over 52 lakh urban voters in Telangana will cast their ballots on Wednesday in elections to 123 urban local bodies (ULBs), including 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, amid a changed political landscape following the 2023 Assembly polls.
