Unani college caught in crossfire
HYDERABAD: Several prospective students have been denied admission into Nizamia Tibba College Unani owing to lack of place in the institute.
The college, which is located on the Charminar Government Hospital premises, does not have enough space to admit all the eligible candidates.
Though the college has been allotted space in the Sadarmahal building nearby, lack of coordination between the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) and Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital, located in Charminar Government Hospital, has hampered the shifting of the unani college.
1x1 polls

The government had issued a GO in 1998 stating that Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital should be shifted to Sardarmahal building. However, the Ayurvedic College and Hospital could not be shifted as the MCH circle offices I and II are located in Sardarmahal building.
Though the MCH has constructed its own buildings at Darushifa, the delay in shifting its circle office to its new premises is only causing problem to the students of unani college.
A portion of the Charminar Government Hospital was given to the Ayurvedic College and Hospital on rent in the year 1952 by then health secretary Bulchand Gandhi.
Though the government had first decided to shift the Ayurvedic Hospital and College to the 80-bedded hospital at Yerragadda then it was decided not to shift there as the students represented the government to remain in Old City area only.
