The death toll in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) oxygen house blast rose to 15 on Saturday after three more employees died while undergoing treatment.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The death toll in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) oxygen house blast rose to 15 on Saturday after three more employees died while undergoing treatment. Of the three, two persons succumbed in Mumbai while one died in the city.
Senior foreman P Narayana Rao and foreman MB Muralidhar Raju, who were sent to Mumbai on Friday for special treatment, died at the National Burns Unit on Saturday morning while AGM L Srinivasa Rao succumbed in the city hospital.

Three others, including GM (projects) BS Khalsi, AGM MBRS Sarma, and Ranjan Bhattacharya of MN Dastur Company, the consultant of the expansion works, are undergoing treatment in Mumbai while Deputy Manager Ch Prabhakara Rao of the Steel plant is being treated in the city hospital. The condition of all four is said to be critical.
