NIZAMABAD: Anti Corruption Bureau officials on Thursday trapped a village revenue officer while he was accepting bribe from a person. ACB officials said, Kale Srinivas, who was working as VRO of Darpalli village and record assistant in Darpallimandaltehsildar office, demanded Rs 5,000 from one B NarsingaRao to issue 10-year-old land pahani copy. After repeated requests by the complainant the VRO agreed to take Rs 2,000.

Not interested to pay bribe,
Narsinga Rao, a resident of Nallavelli of Darpalli mandal, approached the ACB. A trap was laid and the VRO was arrested while accepting the bribe, said ACB DSP N Sanjeeva Rao. After taking the bribe money he immediately handed it to village servant Ramulu, who distributed it among the office staff. Ramulu said he was asked by VRO to give Rs 500 to deputy tehsildar, whose signature is mandatory on pahani, the ACB said. The ACB team also seized Rs 5,000 unauthorised cash from the officer. The VRO and the village servant confessed that the bribe was collected from various persons and it was meant for the tehsildar and the deputy tehsildar The DSP said they had registered a case against the VRO and the village servant.tnn They would also question the tehsildar and the deputy tehsildar based on the confession of the VRO and the village servant.
