HYDERABAD: A robber attacked the watchman and collected Rs two lakh from a bar at Ramanthapur in the wee hours of Thursday.
The Uppal police said the robber inflicted knife injuries on 35-year-old Pankaj Yadav, who was guarding Madhura bar and restaurant, at around 4 am. He later gained entry into the premises. Pankaj Yadav hails from Bihar.
“The robber after gaining entry into the bar, prised open the almirah, which had Rs two lakh cash, and fled from the place,’’ Uppal sub-inspector Anji Reddy said.
The victim was shifted to Gandhi hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be stable. Usually, the bar owners take home the cash collections of the day after business hours. However, on Wednesday, they left the cash in the safe.
Police said that though CCTV cameras were there on the premises, the footage was grainy since it was dark when the robber struck. A case was registered under 307 (Attempt to murder), 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police suspect the role of previous employees in the incident.
