Imphal: The state cabinet on Friday decided to summon the 5th session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly from July 31, said information and public relations minister Sapam Ranjan Singh.
During a press conference in Imphal, the minister noted that the assembly’s last sitting took place on March 5 of the current year.
The cabinet meeting, presided over by chief minister N Biren Singh at his office complex, approved the bifurcation of manpower, specifically for ministerial staff and Village Defence Force personnel, in relation to the seven newly established districts of the state. Additionally, the cabinet gave its approval for the amendment of “The Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2017” and the formulation of “The Manipur Private School (Registration and Regulation) Rules, 2024.” Furthermore, it approved the proposal for framing “Separate Manipur Health Service (Dental) Rules” and granted exemption from consultation/concurrence with the Manipur Public Service Commission, as stated by the minister.
The minister clarified that the allotment of land to the Airports Authority of India, Imphal airport, which was also approved, does not involve the acquisition of new land but rather pertains to land already within the campus itself. He added that the allotment of land for the construction of an AYUSH dispensary at 17-Chaobok Village, Lilong sub-division in Thoubal district, and the construction of a court complex for the district & session judge (Churachandpur) were also approved.
