INDORE: As per the latest reports of Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB) around 12% of housewives are avid users of mobile internet in Madhya Pradesh, which is at par with the national percentage.
With the changing scenario in telecom industry, an increasing number of women have been turning to technology. “About 80% of mobile phones in use are smartphones.

This automatically increases the number of internet users,” said a senior executive of a Reliance Communications adding that the interesting fact is that the women today know multi-faceted use of cell phones from chatting to social networking.
“There has been an increase in the trend in the past few years with growing telecom industry and its wide range. The transformation from normal phones to smartphones has played a major role in the greater usage of mobile internet,” he said.
In 2008, the share was 6% that increased to 12% in 2013 across the country and so it is in MP. “Indian women are more actively using mobile internet owing to a variety of attractive smartphones available,” said chief executives officer Airtel (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) Vir Inder Nath. The intensity of interest housewives have evinced in using smartphones is on the higher side.
“Homemakers today have lots of newer avenues on cell phones that help them multi-task from chatting to shopping. This has played a role in the increase of mobile internet use,” said an executive of a telecom industry on request of anonymity.
