BJP, Congress spar over viral clip of arrest in Madhya Pradesh gangrape case
INDORE: A video of Friday's arrest of the remaining three fugitives in the attack on two Armymen and gangrape of their female friend has added to the political controversy over the horrific crime. The video, now going around social media, shows the husband of a village sarpanch assisting in the surrender of the three accused on Friday evening.
DIG Nimish Agarwal said, "Since the accused were absconding for two days, hiding in the jungles to evade arrest and scared that police would kill them in an encounter, we had only asked the villagers and family members to bring them to us. While handing them over to police, they made a video."
Police said that the sarpanch's husband in the video is known to have a criminal background. The video is being reviewed as part of the investigation, said officers. The footage triggered accusations from Congress functionaries. MPCC general secretary Rakesh Singh Yadav accused BJP leaders of 'providing protection' to the criminals involved.
BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja said, "Prima facie, the video looks fake and edited. Congress has mastered the art of releasing such videos. Until the video is investigated, nothing can be said about its authenticity."

The three accused were produced in court and taken on remand for three days on Saturday. They were taken to the crime scene for a reenactment of the incident.
